Rosa Christine Slaughter Rogers passed away Saturday June 12, 2010. A native of Person County, she was the daughter of the late M.T. and Lila K Slaughter. Christine was preceded in death by her husband Dr. David W. Rogers. Mrs. Rogers was a career music teacher in both North and South Carolina and a life member of NSDAR. She was an organizing member of the Thomas Person Chapter and held several state chairmanships. Mrs. Rogers organized the Rose Plantation Society of the American Revolution, was a Senior State President for C.A.R. and a Life Promoter. In 1996 she compiled the C.A.R. State Centennial History. She was Chairman of the State DAR nominating committee and a member of the State Bylaws Committee. At the National level, she was a member of the AU American DAR Chorus, served on the Tellers Committee, was a corridor hostess, and a N.C. Room hostess and pianist for the N.C. Tea.
A Member of the Roxboro Baptist Church, she served in various churches as a musician, pianist, and organist.
She is survived by her children, a daughter Joan R. McLaughlin of Roxboro, a son David W. Rogers Jr. (Bill) of Roxboro, a daughter and son-in-law Gloria R. and John Alderman of Pittsboro, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Elmo Slaughter of Person County, Henry Slaughter of Ashland, TN, and O. Paul Slaughter of Lancaster, PA.
